It is common knowledge that far more people don’t succeed at doing business online than succeed. Only about 20% of all new businesses in the US make it through more than a several years. Some of the causes for online business failure are generally known, but not all of them can be known. But if there was any one single greatest reason for failure, it would be making errors and miscalculation of all types. This activity of creating wealth online allows for false information of all types across the board. But when it is all said and done, it really does not matter what caused it; but rather the end result is enough for most people.

It is simple to follow the mistaken belief that providing enough choices for people will certainly capture the greatest number of them in your marketing net. Since nearly all of us also like choices, there is a right time and place for offering them as marketers. However, options are often a killer of sales, but yes it can hinge on the situation. But in general, you don’t want to offer a load of options – perhaps one option can be too many. The simple reason is that, generally speaking, people are terrible when it comes to making a decision. Regrettably, that very much is true when it comes to deciding what to buy. Buying indecision is perhaps the perfect killer of sales.

If you are notoriously “cheap,” then avoid making the assumption that the rest of the world is cheap, too. What we are getting at is the mistaken assumption that all people want the most rock bottom price. Look all around you, there are cheap, inexpensive, and outrageously priced products and services in all markets. Some very upper-end products have been around for many, many decades. The simple fact that they have existed for so long automatically dispells any myth that all people are cheap. We can only guess why a person is willing to pay $10,000 for a timepiece. So if you genuinely have something to offer that is really high quality, then you must learn how to position your product in your marketing copy. What you need to do is learn how to position your product in your marketing material.

Have you ever had the notion that a product or service was so great that everyone must need it, or that everybody will buy it? All of us have at one time or another. Marketing and advertising history has its fair share of examples about products that appeared to be bought by almost everyone. Yet there is no individual product or service that every person has bought. The danger of this line of thinking in your own business is it can simply make you complacent and fail to market or advertise to the extent that you should. If you begin to picture your product will be universally liked, then that will lead you down destructive paths. Not everybody will want to buy from you, or your product or service.
